Discover Borth & Beyond
Borth is located six miles north of Aberystwyth on the Cardigan Bay coast. It features a long sandy beach, and at the southern end, there are rock pools beneath the cliffs where children can explore marine life. The cliffs lead south to Wallog and are home to nesting birds such as gulls, choughs, ravens and peregrine falcons. A causeway from Wallog marks the site of the legendary sunken city of Cantre’r Gwaelod. |
Ynyslas Nature Reserve
To the north lies Ynyslas Nature Reserve, a protected area of sand dunes at the Dyfi Estuary. The Visitor Centre at the reserve has recently been closed by Natural Resources Wales but for up-to-date visitor information we recommend following this link. The Dyfi Valley is a designated UNESCO Biosphere with important wildlife habitats. Northfield also sees regular visits from local wildlife including birds, foxes, rabbits, badgers and hedgehogs, with identification posters displayed on site. |
Nearby Activities
Within ten miles, there are leisure centres in Aberystwyth and Machynlleth. Aberystwyth offers mini golf, amusement arcades, a museum, theatre, cinemas, shops, and restaurants. Borth Bog & Nature Walks
Between Borth and Tre’rddol is Borth Bog, home to birds, butterflies, reptiles and marshland plants. Around five miles north of Tre’rddol, the RSPB sanctuary offers summer guided walks. Nearby is an Osprey Breeding Centre which has previously featured on BBC’s Springwatch. |
